Timothy W. Brearly, MA

Tim is currently working to complete his PhD in Combined-Integrated Clinical and School Psychology at James Madison University (2015).  With a background in business and information systems, he brings a unique perspective to this initiative which can facilitate effective communication by harnessing emerging technology.  His primary roles on the committee include the development and maintenance of CTiBS’s website and social media presence.

Tim is particularly interested in working to unravel the ethical and technical challenges of offering psychological services through the Internet.  He is currently completing a paper on the ethical problems posed by the utilization of technology in psychological research and practice.  Other clinical and research interests include certainty, religion/spirituality, and trauma/PTSD.  His recent work can be found at realpsyc.com.

In addition to work in various clinical settings (integrated-care, rural health, college counseling, as well as residential treatment for adolescents), he has taught courses in Computer Applications, Human Development, Introductory Psychology, and International/Multicultural issues.  After completing his BS in Business Information Systems at Messiah College (2004), he worked in industry (training/database management), before deciding to return to higher education to pursue a MA at the University of Delaware (2009).

Tim currently resides in Harrisonburg, VA, with his wife Sarah, where they enjoy spending time with friends and family, adventuring in the great outdoors, snowboarding, and playing classic Nintendo.
